Commentary My 3nd project for my first video class at OSU (with matt and ben). I believe this one was Ben's idea, i wanted to do something far more gross. We made a short video set to the song : Bullet with Butterfly Wings (by the smashing pumkins), in the kbvr-tv studio. Couldn't describe the point, so i'll describe the shots. Camera pans from (my) dream catcher to a hand turning off an alarm clock. Supposedly the song is playing on the alarm clock, and stays with us throughout the day(s). The whole video stays first person, as 2 hands go through the motions of pouring coffee, typing at a keyboard, throwing down coat and keys, clicking a remote, and grabbing a condom. Then the day repeats. The second day is more violent than the first, with things being roughly thrown around, and only one condom left. By the third day of this, the song is very angry, and after a brief montage of dream catcher madness, we redo the whole day at full violence. coffee pot broken, keyboard thrown, remote bounced, etc. Threw in some extra shots of a knife, a bottle of pills, a (BB) gun, and a final obscured shot of hands in clamps. I like the random image of hands in clamps (it's obscured by a cheesy "barb wire" effect they had on the toaster), but it probably mucks up the idea of our character trying to kill himself and escape his droll life. The video ends with the alarm clock going off again, and lighter repeat of the chorus. Dr. Weinman didn't say anything bad about it. wee. so, success i guess. we passed. 2-03-02 |
