Eye Controlled Computers

CURSOR CONTROL SYSTEMS: The Eye Control Technologies Cursor Control System operates completely through head and eye motion. It is designed to allow people who do not have use of their arms or hands to use a computer with a traditional keyboard and mouse; this includes people with spinal cord injuries and ALS patients.

Two separate cameras read the movements made by the user. The camera on top of the computer monitor tracks the position of the headset. As the user moves his head from side to side or up and down, the camera inputs the information. Another camera mounted on the headset is placed in front of the users eye and senses intentional blinking. This is what allows the user to act as if he was operating a mouse. The system allows the user to work in absolute or relative mode. In absolute mode, the cursor moves directly to the point where the user is looking at the monitor. This is ideal for most applications on a computer. It is more natural and can be done faster. Relative mode allows the user to push the cursor around the screen. It is useful for graphic and drawing programs.

TYPING WITH THE HEADSET: Aside from just being able to move a mouse around the screen, a special program can help a person type also. The program is an on-screen keyboard that can allow the person to type text and as they use it, the program learns commonly used words and predicts them as the person types.

COMPATIBILITY: The system is compatible with any Windows 95 program.

HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS: To be able to install the cursor control system in your PC, you must have:
